The Citizens took the lead through none other than Sergio Aguero

Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Arsenal shared the spoils in their titanic clash on Sunday afternoon, leaving City’s top-four spot in jeopardy.

The Citizens took the lead through none other than Sergio Aguero, who latched onto a cushioned header to turn and shoot, beating Petr Cech in the bottom corner to give his side an early lead.

Yet just two minutes later Arsenal were level, Olivier Giroud heading home from a corner for his first goal since 13 January.

Having headed into the tunnel all square, Kevin De Bryune’s low drive from range gave the hosts the lead just six minutes into the second half, yet Alexis Sanchez started and finished off a crisp Arsenal move to restore parity on 68 minutes.

Neither side could find another goal as the game ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw, which leaves Arsenal three points ahead of City in third, with the Citizens now only two points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United, who have a game in hand.

Europa League finalists Liverpool were also in action on Sunday, recording a 2-0 win over Watford thanks to goals from Joe Allen and Roberto Firmino as they remain eighth on the log.

In the earlier kick-off, a disheartened Tottenham Hotspur side went down 2-1 to Southampton, the Saints recovering from Heung Min-Son’s opener with a Steven Davis brace to secure a vital three points to jump up to sixth in the standings. KickOff.com
